Community Photo Terms & Rules
Sharing is explicit
Personal photos remain private on your device and in your selected backup unless you choose Share with BirdGuide, sign in, accept these terms, confirm ownership or permission, select attribution and licence terms, and submit that individual photo.
Community rules
Uploads must depict birds or bird-identification context, be lawful, accurately attributed, and suitable for a general audience. Do not upload nudity, sexual content, graphic injury, cruelty, hate, threats, harassment, personal data, copyright-infringing material, advertising, malware, manipulated evidence, or precise nest locations for sensitive species.
Review and moderation
Every upload is private and pending until automated safety checks and a human moderator approve it. Rejected or removed images are never public. Approval may be revoked. Reports are reviewed promptly; urgent safety reports target a 24-hour first response and other reports 72 hours. Serious or repeated violations can lead to removal or suspension.
Ownership and licence
You retain ownership. BirdGuide may resize, transcode, moderate and display approved photos for the chosen species with your submitted attribution under your selected CC0 1.0, CC BY 4.0, or BirdGuide-display permission.
Deletion
You can delete submissions or your account. Account deletion removes authentication, profile data, blocks, originals, derivatives, and public submissions. A minimal security/deletion record may be kept up to 90 days, subject to legal preservation duties.
